ConnectoVir : an original technological platform to explore the functional anatomy in mammals

Abstract :

Today, the transneuronal tracing technology has important developments thanks to the combined availability of genetically modified mouse lines and recombinant viruses. Especially, rabies virus is a tool of choice for this purpose due to its ability to propagate retrogradely through chains of synaptically connected neurons. This will be illustrated by results obtained in the lab and in collaboration. The increasing number of research projects requiring these tools (including several from Marseille teams) leads the community to design a platform devoted to this technology. I will present the principles of this technique as also the way of functioning of this platform within the INT.
